Need a teeny bit of tribal influence in your look? Antique carved shell beads from late 1800s Mauritania are set in hand pierced brass. Sterling posts and stoppers. Beads will vary in shape and pattern as no two are exactly alike.

Approximately 1/2" [1.3cm] in diameter.

These carved shells - also called "koos" were worn by Mauritanian women in necklaces and in their hair. These beads also functioned as currency in the former British Central Africa colony (now Malawi and Zimbabwe).
